1. What
is a domain name? |
A domain name is simply an internet
address i.e. microsoft.com as no two domain names can be the
same once your chosen domain name has been registered and
registration is maintained it can not be used by any other
person or organisation. |
| |
2.
What if my domain name is unavailable? |
| |
If your domain name is unavailable you could try a different domain name
extension .com instead of .co.uk. Alternatively, you could try a different variation on the same
theme. For instance, if your original choice of domain name
was abcsystems.com you could abbreviate this to abcs.com,
abc.com etc.. or you use a hyphen abcsystems-uk.com
or abc-systems.com |
| |
3. What are the benefits of domain
name registration? |
| |
A domain name allows you to have your own
personalised email and web site address which will never change
even if you change your ISP. A domain name also portrays a more professional online
image and is a simple and easy way for other people or potential
customers to remember your email address or website. |
| |
4. How
long is the domain name registration process? |
| |
Your domain name registration request is processed as soon as it is
received. Generally it only takes minutes for gTLD's (
.com .net etc..) and Nominet (.uk domain names) to confirm an application. |
| |
5.
When is the best time to register a domain name? |
| |
The simple answer is now. Domain name registration
is becoming ever increasingly popular with thousands of domain name registrations
taking place each month. Therefore if you register your domain
name now you are minimizing the possibility of it being
used by someone else. |
| |
6. Who
owns the domain name? |
| |
You retain sole rights to the domain name
for as long as you are registered. Domain names are registered
in the name you give on our order form, we do not register domain
names in our name. |

9.
Is there a domain name transfer in or out fee? |
| |
Name2net do not charge a domain name transfer fee in or out. However, some web hosts may charge you when you transfer a domain name away from them so its always best to check first .
There
are two main types of domain name transfer, a
full domain name transfer and a change of nameserver only:
Nameserver change only
The domain name is still administered
and renewed through your current web host / provider but you would use our web and email forwarding
or web hosting service with your domain name.
Full transfer of domain name
The domain name would also be administered and renewed through
us.
When you transfer your domain name to us for free and purchase any of our web hosting packages or our web and email forwarding service, once your domain name has been fully transferred to us we will automatically add 1 year to the registration of your domain name for free.
For example if your domain name currently expires on 14 October 2009 we would add 1 years registration so that the new expiry date would be 14 October 2010.
Unfortunately, due to their nature this offer does not apply to .uk domain names. However, you still can transfer your domain name free of charge to us and benefit from low cost web hosting or from our web and email forwarding service
.
