What is a nameserver?

A nameserver is a server that controls the DNS ( Domain Name System) for a domain name. In order for your domain name to function correctly it needs two or more nameservers assigned to it.

All web hosting companies should offer you at least two nameservers to point to. It allows you to host your domain name with them and use their services such as web and email forwarding or web hosting.

For example Name2net's nameservers are:

ns1.name2net.com

ns2.name2net.com

If your domain name used these nameservers then you would be able to use any of the services that we provide regardless of where the actual domain name was administered and renewed.
