1. What is a domain name?
A domain name is simply an internet address i.e. microsoft.com as no two domain names can be the same once your chosen domain name has been registered and registration is maintained it can not be used by any other person or organisation.
2. What are the benefits of domain name registration?
A domain name allows you to have your own personalised email and web site address which will never change even if you change your ISP. A domain name also portrays a more professional online image and is a simple and easy way for other people or potential customers to remember your email address or website.
3. How long is the domain name registration process?
Your domain name registration request is processed as soon as it is received. Generally it only takes minutes for gTLD's (.com .net etc..) and Nominet (.uk domain names) to confirm an application.
4. Who owns the domain name?
You retain sole rights to the domain name for as long as you are registered. Domain names are registered in the name you give on our order form, we do not register domain names in our name.
5. What can I do with a domain name?
A domain name allows you to personalise your web and email address to one that won't change even if you change your ISP, saves having to notify everyone of a new email address every time you change ISP.
Having your own domain name is an easy, affordable way for other people or potential customers to remember your email address or website and gives you an instant professional online image.
With a domain name you can respond to emails automatically when your away from home or office and the sender receives an immediate response of your choosing.
If you use your domain name with our web hosting service you can also create your own website, use advanced email and email protection, graphical statistics, MySQL database(s), scripting and more. Please click on web hosting if you require more information.

What's more it's sponsored and financially backed by Google, Samsung, Microsoft and several other leading technology companies.
.mobi is meant for mobile devices so registrants must follow mobile compatibility guidelines to ensure that websites are optimised for easy viewing on mobile devices:

If you registered a UK domain name before 28th October 2013 you maybe entitled to the equivalent .uk version which will be reserved for free until 10th June 2019.
Order of rights to an equivalent .uk domain name are as follows:
.co.uk / org.uk / me.uk / ltd.uk / plc.uk / net.uk
UK domain names registered after 28th October 2013 to 10th June 2014 may also be entitled to the equivalent .uk domain name. New registrations of .co.uk domains made before 08:00hrs on 10 June 2014 (provided that no other equivalent .org.uk, .me.uk, .net.uk, ltd.uk or .plc.uk exists) would have been given automatic rights to the new .uk domain.
From 10th June 2014 if there are any new registrations made within the UK Domain Family (e.g. in .co.uk, .org.uk etc) after this date will no longer get automatic rights to register the new .uk domain. So these new .uk domains become available for anyone to register.

7. Is there a domain name transfer in or out fee?
Domain names ending in .uk are free to transfer in or out of Name2net.
Domain names ending in .com .net .org .biz .info are free to transfer in or out of Name2net. However, the registry responsible for these domain names impose a one year domain name renewal fee when transferring. Your current expiry date will not change, the domain name is simply extended by a year i.e expiry date 10 Oct 2013 becomes 10 Oct 2014. The domain name renewal fee is the same as our current registration price. However, if you purchase any of our web hosting packages upon successful transfer we will cover the registry renewal fee and add one year to the expiry of your domain name free.
8. What if my domain name is unavailable?
If your domain name is unavailable you could try a different domain name extension .com instead of .co.uk. Alternatively, you could try a different variation on the same theme. For instance, if your original choice of domain name was abcsystems.com you could abbreviate this to abcs.com, abc.com etc.. or you use a hyphen abcsystems-uk.com or abc-systems.com
9. Is my email address sold or passed on?
No, we do not sell or pass on email addresses to third parties. Name2net is committed to protecting the privacy of customers and users of the Name2net website.
10. Are my personal details visible when I register a domain name?
When registering a domain name the information entered as the 'Owner Details' will be visible on any full 'whois' lookup/search, this is irrespective of whichever registrar you use to register a domain name. If you wish for your details not to be shown then Domain ID Protection is available with most domain names extensions. More information on Domain ID Protection can be found on our Domain ID Protection page.
Please note that when registering a UK domain name as an 'Individual' your address details will not be shown on the whois/lookup, this does not apply if you register a UK domain name as a business or organisation.
11. What is Email Forwarding?
Email forwarding enables you to have a more memorable and personalised email address i.e: firstname.lastname@example.org becomes email@example.com. It also saves you time as your email address stays the same even if you change your ISP, so you don't need to go round letting everyone know every time you change your email address, making it ideal for family and business use.
You can have email at your domain name forwarded directly to various existing email addresses. You can create as many email aliases (the part before the @ sign of the email address) as you wish all forwarding to other existing email addresses as shown in the examples below:
The examples below use the domain name commercialwebspace.net
firstname.lastname@example.org forwards to the real address email@example.com
firstname.lastname@example.org forwards to the real address email@example.com
firstname.lastname@example.org forwards to the real address email@example.com
firstname.lastname@example.org forwards to the real address email@example.com
Email forwarding is fine for receiving email addressed at your domain name but in order to send email from your domain name you would need to use our web hosting service. All of our web hosting packages include advanced email features. Please click on web hosting if you require more information.
12. What is Web Forwarding?
Web forwarding allows you to easily redirect your domain name to an existing website. You get a personalised website address that people will be able to remember making it ideal for business and family use. We offer two types of web forwarding standard forwarding and masked forwarding.
Standard Web Forwarding
When somebody types your domain name in to the browser address bar they will be automatically redirected to your existing website. However, the browser address bar will not show your domain name but your existing website address.
For this example we have used the domain name commercialwebspace.net which forwards to the existing address name2net.co.uk:
Click on the domain name commercialwebspace.net note that the browsers address bar does not show the domain name commercialwebspace.net but shows the destination address name2net.co.uk
Masked Web Forwarding
When somebody types your domain name in to the browser address bar they will be automatically redirected to your existing website. However, unlike standard web forwarding, masked forwarding hides the destination address and shows the actual domain name.
For this example we have used the domain name commercialwebspace.co.uk which forwards to the destination address name2net.co.uk:
Click on the domain name commercialwebspace.co.uk note that in this case the browsers address bar shows the actual domain name commercialwebspace.co.uk and not the destination address name2net.co.uk
